To date, numerous recommendations and solutions for subtitling classical 2D audiovisual services have been proposed. Accessibility for multimedia content is typically provided by means of access services, of which subtitling is likely the most widespread approach. Results of the present, preliminary study shed light on future experimental setups with eye-tracking.Īll multimedia services must be accessible. Conclusions show that testing subtitles in immersive media environments is both a linguistic and an artistic endeavour, which requires an agile framework fostering contrast and comparison of different functionalities. The choices made regarding sound, duration and storyboard are described. The approach for the first experimental setup for implementing creative subtitles in XR using eye-tracking is given, in line with novel research questions. After an overview of existing subtitle features in XR, the article describes the challenges of generating subtitle stimuli to test meaningful user viewing behaviours, based on eye-tracking technology. Testing subtitles in eXtended Reality (XR) has pushed existing methods to address user need and enjoyment of audiovisual content in 360º viewing displays. Immersive environments multiply 2D subtitles features to new creative viewing modalities. The screen now affords accessible creativity, with subtitles able to provide novel experiences beyond those offered by traditional language translation. New technologies allow for placing subtitles at any location of the screen in a variety of formats, shapes, typography, font size, and colour. Subtitle production is an increasingly creative accessibility service. The paper concludes by discussing how the newly developed player has gone above and beyond the existing solutions and guidelines, by providing accessibility features that meet the expectations for a widely used immersive medium, like 360° video. The in-depth analysis has been part of a research effort towards the development of a fully inclusive and accessible 360° video player. These features have been chosen based on guidelines from standardization contributions, like in the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the International Communication Union (ITU), and from research contributions for making 360° video consumption experiences accessible. This paper surveys a wide range of 360o video players and examines the features they include for dealing with accessibility, such as Subtitles, Audio Description, Sign Language, User Interfaces and other interaction features, like voice control and support for multi-screen scenarios. However, until recently the focus has been mostly on adapting the existing techniques to fit immersive displays, rather than considering new approaches for accessibility designed specifically for these increasingly relevant media experiences. With the current trend towards immersive experiences, such as Virtual Reality (VR) and 360o video, it becomes key that these environments are adapted to be fully accessible.

I really cant understand why this situation happens using Win7. This actually works very well for two lines of subtitles, but when its just one line, the subtitle is very low, it's a little annoying.
